Looking After You

 

The feelings you are experiencing are justified, but may add to the upset for the survivor. S/he may feel responsible for upsetting you. Seek support from a trusted friend, family member or your GP.

It can be shocking hearing someone’s horrific life stories when abused. Be kind to yourself and seek support if necessary.

There are support groups run for family and friends of people who have been abused if you contact abuse survivors' world a member of staff would be happy to help you locate a support group in your local area or counselling for yourself.

Set firm boundaries and let your friend or family member who has been hurt know you care and believe them.
