Signs of abuse in children.
- Knowledge about sexual activity which is unusual for the child's age
- Depression,
- Attachment problems such as withdrawal or clingy behaviour
- Eating disorders
- Self-harming and/or suicide attempts
- Difficulty in concentrating
- Distrustfulness
- Nightmares and/or insomnia
- Self-conscious behaviour particularly when undressing
- Perfectionism
- Unexplained injuries
- Attempts at running away from home
- Aggressive behaviour
- Reluctance to have any physical contact with people
- Victims can have problems with their emotional and/or intellectual development
- Putting themselves down
- Fear of the unknown or the new
- Lack of friends or other social relationships
